Carpenter’s Single Gives Cards Win In Game 162
The St. Louis Cardinals won in the same way Los Angeles won Monday night when the pressure was on, a game-winning single off the opposing second baseman.
Matt Carpenter’s eighth-inning knock proved to be the difference-maker, in the Cardinals’ 1-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
The Cards won behind great pitching from Shelby Miller, who deserved a better fate than a no-decision in his first Major League start. He pitched six one-hit innings with seven strikeouts.
The St. Louis Cardinals await the Atlanta Braves in the NL Wild Card Game Friday. Kyle Lohse is scheduled to face Kris Medlen with coverage on 93.9 The Eagle, 94.3 KAT Country and ESPN 100.5 KTGR at 3:10 PM.
