Cards Rebound To Sweep Marlins
The St. Louis Cardinals followed up a subpar road trip to sweep the opening three-games of their homestand with the Miami Marlins, winning the Sunday finale, 3-2.
The Cards struck first with a Matt Holliday first-inning solo home run, but the Fish countered with a second-inning RBI by Adeiny Hechavarria. The Redbirds took the lead on an Allen Craig sacrifice fly and Carlos Beltran scored the eventual deciding run on a double steal with Matt Holliday while at the corners.
Lance Lynn, who had lost his last two starts, bounced back to get his 11th win. Lynn scattered seven hits and two runs in his seven innings with seven strikeouts. Trevor Rosenthal and Edward Mujica combined for a scoreless final two frames, with Mujica earning his 23rd save.
The Cards start a two-game set with the Houston Astros Tuesday. Adam Wainwright faces Bud Norris in the Tuesday opener, with coverage on KTGR at 6:20 PM.
